Evidence for signal enhancement due to ballistic phonon conversion in NbSi thin films bolometers

Résumé

We demonstrate the sensitivity of NbSi thin film thermometers to ballistic phonons. This effect leads to signal amplitudes up to 7 times larger than the theoretical predicted thermal equilibrium signal amplitudes. A simple model of the device in good agreement with quantitative analysis of data is presented.
