Psychopathologie et expériences exceptionnelles : une revue de la littérature

Abstract : This literature review aims to introduce two fields, which attracted, since few decades, many researches, mainly in English and German. The « Anomalistic Psychology » examines paranormal beliefs and experiences and explores them mainly through conventional psychological hypotheses. Among these hypotheses, several diagnostic categories were questioned: dissociation, trauma, schizotypy, etc. Psychopathology maintains a complex relationship with these experiences, renamed “exceptional experiences” (or anomalous experiences ) in the academic literature. To clarify this relationship is especially important because, since several years, emerges a “clinical practice with people living exceptional experiences” which rely on some differential clinical elements possibly relevant for other clinical practices.
