Abstract : This chapter not follow the dominant view on violence exclusively centred on the dichotomy cvictim/agressor; more accuretaly it will highlight the reciprocal and cyclical nature of family ordinary violence that prevails in the urban milieu of Kinshasa (DRC). Grounded on in two life stories collected through several periods of fieldwork, I have chosen to investigate of a specific kin relationship, namely the wife/family-in-law relationship.
