De l'incise au segment contextualisant : un changement d'horizon dans l'introduction du discours direct

Abstract : This corpus-based study of the introduction of direct speech comprising excerpts from fiction and newspaper articles aims at pointing out the limits of the expression reporting clause in the description of any introductory clause of direct speech. A new methodological approach, based on the analysis of any occurrence of direct speech according to its cotextual environment, will then be introduced. This analysis of utterances from any speech genres takes into account any textual sequence introducing direct speech thanks to the concept of contextualizing sequence announcing direct speech. This transphrastic approach gives prominence to the notions of textual cohesion and coherence. Examples of utterances including contextualizing sequences announcing direct speech will be mentioned as an illustration of the compositional diversity of such sequences.
