La prise de décision chez les sapeurs-pompiers : le commandant des opérations de secours

Abstract : This article presents how emergency operation commanders (COS) make decisions during accidents, disasters and catastrophes. These men and women are subject to the risk of errors when faced with complex situations with multiple stakes. We will detail this in the article and particularly the reasoning of the COS in an iterative loop of the decision-making process, as well as the different factors influencing the COS identified during studies carried out at the National Fire fighters officers Academy (ENSOSP). These are contextual factors linked to the particularities of a rescue operation, psychosocial factors linked to the presence of other actors, and finally cognitive and psychological factors specific to each actor of the crisis management. Finally, we will explain the impact of these factors and the risk of decision bias.
