Les variations si particulières du niveau d'eau dans la grotte Cosquer

Abstract : Some of the paleolithic paintings and engravings in the Cosquer cave (South-East France) are close to sea level and are thus in danger when water floods the decorated walls. However, an exceptional phenomenon limits the variations of the water level in the cave and temporarily protects the artworks. Hydrogeological survey monitores the water level and is a first step to understand why it fluctuates.
