Wilhelm Trapp, Commander of Battalion 101, well described by American historian Christopher Browning in the 1990s, and referred to Polish justice in 1948, was not judged then for the crimes committed against Jews but for those he committed against Polish peasants: Why? The answer lies with a shared perception of British and Polish allies after the war, who had arrested Trapp and who did not take into account the murder of the Jews.

Pourquoi Wilhelm Trapp, le commandant du bataillon 101 si bien décrit par l’historien américain Christopher Browning au seuil des années 1990, et déféré à la justice polonaise en 1948, n’a pas été jugé alors pour les crimes commis contre les Juifs mais pour ceux commis contre des paysans polonais ? La réponse tient à une perception commune des alliés britanniques et polonais d’après-guerre, qui avaient arrêté Trapp, et qui ne prennent pas en compte le meurtre des Juifs.
