Abstract : This article treats about the development of experimental schools and pedagogies since the beginning of the years 2000’s in France and the way the actors adapted themselves to the evolutions of the institutional, political, and social context. In the national education system, the increasing power of the intermediate levels of the hierarchy, and the institutional endorsement to innovation lead to the opening of a few structures built together by small teams of teachers and institutional leaders. However, teachers who open today experimental schools and classes act very independently from institutional recommendations (Freinet teams, Celine Alvarez), imagining unusual strategies. The important development of public schools goes together with diverse and new modalities.
