« “Portant le nom aimé de l’eau.” Poétique du patronyme chez Charles Fontaine »

Abstract : The article sheds light on a section of Charles Fontaine's poetry through the prism of a recurring phenomenon in 16th century poetry, the taste for puns and reverie on onomastics. It shows how the surname founds a poetic identity centered on a liquid imaginary imbued with fertility, which determines poetic relationships and friendships. Finally, the recurring image of the fountain legitimises the choice of a style capable of quenching the spiritual thirst of the reader as well as making the verses flow freely.
