Le délire comme construction de soi dans une situation de présence à autrui

Abstract : For many years, I have been practicing attentive listening in mental health with the goal of supporting access to rights and recourses for people using a device that advocates an egalitarian relationship: pairadvocacy. This system mobilizes volunteers whose function is to enable the people requesting help to understand the situation in which they are living in difficulty. However, on a recurring basis, these volunteers can come up against a destabilizing situation when the person being listened to suddenly makes a speech that seems incoherent. It is then difficult for them, faced with this obstacle, not to interpret it as delirium, which refers to medical 'care'. The aim of support between equals, displayed by the device, is then reached: only a professional psychiatrist seems to be able to intervene. Delirium is then seen as the negative symptom of an illness. Contrary to this common interpretation, I have experimented with maintaining communication with many so-called delusional people. In the present text, I would like to develop three related hypotheses that would allow these listeners and people confronted with these delusional productions to benefit from them, understanding the contribution that maintaining communication with the delusional person can make to the construction of people. Thus, a communication activity, whatever the contents exchanged, is a fact that contributes to the transformations of the inter-communicating subjects (title of the biennial). This observation is transferable to other situations involving listening and listening and functioning as transformations. This account of experience is based on collected facts of which it proposes an interpretation and does not claim to account for the psychiatric categories characterizing the types of delusional productions in relation to a nomenclature of psychic illnesses.
