L'Observatoire Hommes-Milieux (OHM) Oyapock
Résumé
The study area stretches along both banks of the Oyapock river, a natural border between French Guiana and Brazil. The OHM is located entirely within the tropical rainforest, and includes the communities of Ouanary, Saint-Georges-del’Oyapock, Camopi on the French side, and the vast community of Oiapoque on the Brazilian side. Sparsely populated, this area is in the process of being opened up to the outside world with the recent opening of two roads that reach all the way to the river. The construction of this transborder river bridge should further accelerate these changes.
The OHM aims to identify and monitor the key processes which will influence the human population and its environment, their interactions and their dynamics, after the construction of this bridge.
À la frontière entre la Guyane française et le Brésil, la zone observée s’étend sur les deux rives du fleuve Oyapock, frontière entre les deux pays. Entièrement situé en domaine forestier tropical, cet espace concerne les communes de Ouanary, Saint-Georges-de-l’Oyapock et Camopi, côté français, et la vaste commune d’Oiapoque, côté brésilien. Très peu peuplé, ce territoire est en cours de désenclavement avec l’ouverture récente de deux routes parvenant jusqu’au fleuve. La construction du pont fluvial transfrontalier accentue l’ampleur des changements.
L’objet de l’OHM est de suivre et de comprendre les paramètres qui vont ainsi influer sur la population humaine et l’environnement, leurs interactions et leurs dynamiques suite à la création de ce pont.
