The agreement of the past participle of verbs conjugated with the auxiliary 'to have' in several Romance languages, with a focus on Occitan

Résumé
The aim of this article is to confront some data on the past participle agreement of verbs conjugated with aver 'to have' in Occitan, with data concerning Spanish, Catalan and French. We examine the past participle agreement rules for verbs conjugated with the auxiliary 'have', in Spanish, Catalan, French and Occitan, from a diachronic and synchronic point of view. The data analyzed tend to show that the implicational hierarchies defined by Smith for Catalan, and Rodríguez Molina for Spanish are – in terms of diachronic evolution and/or frequency in synchrony – broadly speaking – valid for Occitan and French. The data on Gascon Occitan, invite us to clarify or develop certain points concerning all Romance varieties.
Cet article se propose de confronter un certain nombre de données sur l'accord du participe des verbes conjugués avec aver 'avoir' en occitan, aux données concernant l'espagnol, le catalan et le français. Nous examinons les règles d'accord du participe des verbes conjugués avec 'avoir', en espagnol, catalan, français et occitan, d'un point de vue diachronique et synchronique. Les données analysées tendent à montrer que les hiérarchies implicationnelles définies par Smith pour le catalan, et Rodríguez Molina pour l'espagnol-en termes d'évolution diachronique et/ou de fréquence en synchronie-, sont, dans leurs grandes lignes, valables pour l'occitan et le français. Les données sur l'occitan gascon, invitent à clarifier ou à approfondir certains points concernant l'ensemble des variétés romanes.
