Uncertainty Theories, Degrees of Truth and Epistemic States

Résumé

Aim of the talk : 1. Point some limitations of unique probability distributions when information is lacking 2. Outline set-based representations of incomplete knowledge (possibility theory, evidence theory, imprecise probability ) 3. Criticize some attempts at using 3 and 4-valued propositional logics for reasoning about epistemic states and inconsistency. 4. Position epistemic logics with respect to possibility theory, Kleene and Belnap logics 5. Uncertainty theories bridge the gap between modal logics and probability.
