Hittite spatial production and the reproduction of power: Hattusa in the 14th century BC.
A Produção do espaço hitita e a reprodução do poder: Hattusa no século XIV a.C
Résumé
This article presents an analyses, based in documents and maps, inquiring the production of urban space in the Hittite city of Hattusa in the 14th century B.C, period that represents its best time; searching comprehend how the materialistic culture legitimate and justify the power of the
ruler, considering the connection between space production and movement of this society. Concerns the fact to comprehend the mecanics and its dynamics thinking about the relationship between the social structure and the human actions, since the space (in these case the city and its specific urban elements - specialy the relation between High City and Low City) is created for the social; realizing that the analyses of the sources will not certify about the past, but it will make us understand how the temporal power is built depending on the appropriation of the space, and contrariwise.
To knowledge the internal bounds of the different buildings inside of these two important spaces, the High City and Low City, we can perceive how its centrality is expressed on the constructions and the drawn of the capital, analysing the Hittite imperial dominance with the production of space in Hattusa; also to knowledge the external roll of these specific space with
the cities from the near east comtemporary with it; analysing and relating the dimensions of the
imperial hitit and it influence inside the near east.
O presente trabalho propõe analisar, a partir de documentos e mapas, a questão da produção do espaço urbano na cidade hitita de Hattusa no século XIV a.C, período que representa sua fase mais ilustre; buscando compreender como a cultura material legitima e justifica o poder do governante, pensando a relação ente produção do espaço e movimento dessa sociedade. Interessa o fato de compreender os mecanismos e a sua dinâmica pensando na relação entre a estrutura social e a ação humana, já que o espaço (nesse caso a cidade e seus elementos urbanos específicos – principalmente a relação entre Cidade Alta e Cidade Baixa) é criado em função do social1 ; entendendo que a análise das fontes não trará o conhecimento exato sobre o passado, mas nos fará compreender como se dá a construção do poder temporal em função da apropriação do espaço, e vice versa. Ao entender como se dá a relação interna entre os diferentes edifícios dentro desses dois espaços principais, a Cidade Alta e a Cidade Baixa, pode-se compreender como a sua centralidade se manifestava nas construções e no traçado da capital, analisando a relação entre forma de dominação imperial hitita e produção do espaço em Hattusa; como também entender a relação externa desse espaço específico com as cidades do oriente próximo contemporâneas a ele; analisando e relacionando as dimensões do imperialismo hitita e as influências desse império dentro do oriente próximo.
