Verdir une ville désertique ? Entre politique urbaine, pratiques habitantes et matérialité écologique. Le cas d’Abu Dhabi (E.A.U.)

Abstract : As environmental issues become increasingly important in cities, this article aims to document and question policies for greening and building green infrastructure in a fast-growing arid city marked by deep inequalities. Our study, which combines social survey, biogeographic surveys and green mapping, brings out the contradictions between the intentions of urban planners, the practices of the inhabitants, and the resulting ecological functionalities. This example thus proves to be a particularly rich ground for testing this new model of ecological urban planning.
