Open transport data et développement d’applications de mobilité : Un travail d’équipement à la frontière de mondes variés

Abstract : Even though open data is no longer a novelty today, it raises questions that are far from being solved by data producers and re-users. This article proposes an immersion in a hackathon organized around the first open data sets by a rail transport operator, to understand how they are co-produced by the re-users who integrate them into mobility applications. By combining an ecological approach to social worlds with an ethnography of the technical activity, it shows that the originality of the latter does not lie essentially in the development of applications as the data producers initially hoped. Instead, it can be found in the work of equipping open data with new properties that allow them to be integrated into various informational infrastructures. This is achieved through definitions that are shared to a greater or lesser degree, at the borders of social worlds whose efforts they help to coordinate around the opening of new data.
