The Armenian Genocide and the Armenian Catholics: Some Remarks

Résumé
According to historical records at least 30,000 Armenians from the Armenian Catholic community, 102 clergymen of the Armenian Catholic Church, several bishops and 45 monks became victims of the Genocide, and numerous members of the community were violently converted to Islam. In spite of this reality Turkish scientific and semi-scientific circles make the baseless claim that the Armenian Catholics did not suffer as they were under the aegis of the European powers. In the article a number of facts from Turkish sources are presented. They demonstrate that the Young Turks were free in their actions, and the Turkish “scientific” findings that the Armenian Catholics were under the aegis of European countries are only a policy to distort the facts of the Armenian genocide.
Պատմական փաստերի համաձայն, հայ կաթողիկե համայնքից ցեղասպանության զոհ դարձան 30 հազար հայեր, Հայ Կաթողիկե եկեղեցու 102 հոգևորական, մի քանի եպիսկոպոս և 45 վանական, համայնքի բազմաթիվ անդամներ ենթարկվել են նաև բռնի իսլամացման։ Հակառակ այս իրողությանը թուրքական գիտական և մերձգիտական շրջանակներում չհիմնավորված նշում են, որ հայ կաթողիկները չեն տուժել, քանի որ եղել են եվրոպական տերությունների պաշտպանության տակ։ Հոդվածում բերվում են մի շարք փաստեր, այդ թվում թուրքական աղբյուրներից, որոնք վկայում են, որ երիտթուրքերն ազատ են եղել իրենց գործողություններում և թուրքական «գիտական» մոտեցումները, թե հայ կաթողիկները գտնվել են եվրոպական երկրների հովանու ներքո, ընդամենը Հայոց մեծ եղեռնի իրական փաստերն աղավաղելու և հարցը շրջանառելու քաղաքականություն են։
