Les huit chansons avec accompagnements d’instruments occidentaux attribuées à Matteo Ricci
Résumé
Matteo Ricci, the first Jesuit to successfully settle in China, shortly after 1600, left the texts of eight Chinese-language songs to be accompanied "by a Western instrument". François Picard, ethnomusicologist and historian of Chinese music, and Jean-Christophe Frisch, nomad musician and conductor, have collaborated for the reinvention of this repertoire, finding, not the original compositions, but the processes that led to it.
