LOS CAJONES DE LA MEMORIA: TESTIMONIO FÍSICO DE LA CONSTRUCCIÓN DEL PUERTO DE ARROYO PAREJA

The planning and construction of ports built by French companies in Argentina is an empirical demonstration of the French “savoir faire” in port issues developed at the end of the 19th century. The arrival of a group of French engineers in our country meant the application of new techniques aimed at adapting the construction needs to the natural characteristics where the new ports were located. in this article, the focus will be on the application of a construction system developed by the engineers of one of the main French companies, Hersent. The caisson method was used to build the Commercial Port of Arroyo Pareja in 1912. Some of them, stranded, are a mark of memory of those works and an identity sign still visible in the port landscape in Arroyo Pareja.
La planificación y construcción de los puertos construidos ´por empresas francesas en a Argentina es una demostración empírica del "savoir faire" francés en materia portuaria desarrollada a finales del siglo XIX. La llegada de un grupo de ingenieros franceses a nuestro país significó la aplicación de nuevas técnicas destinadas a la adecuación entre las necesidades constructivas y las características naturales donde fueron emplazados los nuevos puertos.En este artículo, el foco se centrará sobre la aplicación de un sistema constructivo desarrollado por los ingenieros de una de las principales compañías francesas, Hersent. El método de cajones fue empleado para edificar el Puerto Comercial de Arroyo Pareja en 1912. Algunos de ellos varados, son una marca de memoria de esas obrasy una señal identitaria aún visible en el paisaje portuario en Arroyo Pareja.
