Islamophobie : du mot au phénomène social. Approche cooccurrentielle d'une notion controversée

Abstract : Islamophobia has been at the heart of social debates in France and Belgium for several years now. In this article, we study two large corpora of francophone news media ((Le Monde, Le Figaro, Libération, between 1997 and 2015; Le Soir, La libre Belgique, La Dernière Heure and Le Vif between 2014 and 2018, i.e. 37 million and 9,6 million occurrences), that will allow us to observe the coverage of the public problem called Islamophobia in two countries that consider themselves, each in their own way, secular. To do this, we implement a co-occurrence analysis protocol, understood as a statistical, textual and semantic unit.
