Adelophasma anjouanense n. gen., n. sp., Phasme énigmatique de l’île d’Anjouan, archipel des Comores (Phasmatodea)

Abstract : A new species collected on Anjouan island (Comoros), of which it is endemic, is described. The characters it presents require the erection of a new genus. Its taxonomic position appears uncertain: its morphology places it within the family of Anisacanthidae most surely in Leiophasmatinae. The geological history of the Comoros proves to be poorly known, which does not allow to understand the evolutionary history of this new species of stick insect which constitutes an unprecedented example of an original taxon within the Comorian fauna
