Le fact-checking : un nouveau genre textuel pour lutter contre la désinformation ?

This paper considers the notion of fact-checking, a journalistic activity that has evolved in recent years from a procedure of verifying information to an exhibition of this verification. Based on a corpus of fact-checking articles from the German news magazine Der Spiegel, one of the objectives of this paper is to observe the possible emergence of what could be a new journalistic genre. Another objective is to identify generic characteristics of fact-checking from the corpus and to consider how they are likely to change the way information is presented and structured. It appears indeed that fact-checking, by showing and describing the investigative work of journalists, does not make it possible to fight against misinformation as much as to affirm the legitimacy of journalistic speech.
Il s’agit ici de considérer le fact-checking non pas en tant que phénomène médiatique, mais comme phénomène linguistique, susceptible de donner naissance à un nouveau genre textuel. Pour ce faire, nous partons d’un corpus d’articles allemands estampillés Faktencheck extraits du magazine Der Spiegel, particulièrement actif en matière de vérification des faits. Les articles de fact-checking relèvent de la catégorie des métatextes, ils commentent, en effet, d’autres textes/énoncés en les convoquant et en leur substituant leur propre discours. En référence aux travaux sur les genres textuels, nous cherchons d’abord à extraire à partir du corpus les caractéristiques génériques de ce potentiel nouveau genre avant de le replacer dans l’écosystème de l’information. L’objectif est de comprendre la proximité qu’il entretient avec d’autres genres journalistiques et la façon dont il est susceptible de faire évoluer les pratiques journalistiques.
