Smart Wireless network for data collection using mobile Sink embedded on drone based on a modified RPL-version

Résumé

The advent of Smart system and Internet of Things spurred a new direction of research in agricultural application field using Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). In recent times, WSNs are widely applied in various agricultural applications such as data collection with a set of sensors (e.g.: temperature, humidity, brightness, sunshine, odors, etc.). In this paper, we designed a smart Wireless network of agro-climatic data collection using mobile Sink embedded on drone based on a modified RPL-version. First of all, we propose a set of sensors which are calibrated and deployed in the targeted sensing field. Then, we use a modified RPL-version protocol to manage sink node mobility with respect to different network metrics such as latency, packet delivery ratio (PDR) and energy consumption. Extensive simulation using Instant Contiki simulator (Cooja) shows significant performance differences between RPL protocols and its modified version in mobile sink environments.
