Nota sui fenomeni di ibridazioni iconografiche nell’Etruria orientalizzante: la sirena del Pittore delle Rondini

Abstract : The Swallow Painter, a craftsman who probably emigrated from Ionia to southern Etruria, is an important figure in the Etrusco-Corinthian vase painting during the late Orientalizing period. This short article aims to analyze the phenomenon of hybridization of the iconographic repertoire of his western creations, focusing especially on a well-known anthropocephalic bird figure depicted on the eponymous cup preserved in Rome in the Museo nazionale etrusco di Villa Giulia.
