Abstract : An essential task for teachers is to research, create, select, or modify the resources they present to learners. In this perspective, comes the question of the place and use of textbooks as a tool amongst the didactic devices used by teachers in a language class and more specifically a tool to teach writing skills. In this contribution, we will study what teachers of French as a Foreign Language (FFL) teaching in a FFL department in a French University located in France (Lille) say about this tool. By questioning them in semi-structured interviews, we try to better understand how they introduce the writing tasks suggested in FFL textbooks to their students. We will show interest in some of the shortcomings of these textbooks, shortcomings that lead teachers to modify the suggested tasks and adapt them to their teaching environment. Six teachers’ feedbacks, received during semi-structured interviews, will be analyzed in order to highlight the teacher’s work of transformation and adaptation of the tasks
