Towards a Methodology for Interdisciplinary Modeling of Complex Systems Using Hypergraphs

Résumé

Within the scientific team of ARESMA research project, a subgroup has been formed to build a common interdisciplinary model including both mangrove and society. The workgroup is now entering a third stage in which the researchers aim to design the first common models. This chapter presents the first and the second stages. The initial analyses certainly show the difficulty of comparisons between disciplines with theoretical and methodological frameworks that are a priori as far apart as those of the literature or sociology and marine ecology. After an examination of the title of the diagram, which will specify the first contours of the object of study, the hypergraph vertices are described. A hypergraph is described using its decomposition into fractal hypertrees. The focus is on its layered organization in which the components are identified and on the issue of levels consistency.
