Novel opportunities for nanoporous carbons as energetic materials

Résumé : A novel energetic material based on nanoporous carbons as main ingredient is herein reported for thefirst time. Prepared byfilling the pores of nanoporous carbons with an oxidizer, its energetic character isdemonstrated. The decomposition of the oxidizer confined in the nanopores of the carbon renders amaterial capable to sustain a detonation. The energetic character -temperature and reactivity- seems tobe promoted by the nanoconfinement of the salts. The safety properties of such materials are in line withthe requirements for application as high explosives or propellants.
