Nudges ou affordances ? Tisser la toile d'une affection distribuée

Abstract : In this article we wish to question the relevance of the notion of nudges as an analytical framework. Nudges are often used to underline that our cognition is at the centre of what guides our action: the perception that we have of reality could, as soon as it is modified or instrumentalized, become a lever to orient our action, sometimes in spite of ourselves. These approaches focus on the psyche of the subjects and reify mechanisms presented as unconscious. For us, we postulate that in order to analyse what sets us in motion, what makes us act, while integrating the contextual and cognitive aspects of individuals, it may be useful to associate the notion of affordance (as a range of actions specific to a situation), and that of affect (in the sense of who gives us the power to act). Thus, our ability to act in an environment would lie less in our cognitive biases, and more in a constant back and forth between what affects us and how we affect others. However conceptual it may be, our presentation will nevertheless be supported by examples from the observation of affordances located in professional practices (and in edutainment activities).
