Le rôle de l'amateur dans la construction des savoirs (XIX e -XXI e siècles)

Abstract : The figure of the amateur, inherited from former cultural practices, is in the process of playing a key role in the era of collaborative digital technologies. This new economy of contribution may include various informative, conversational and creative practices, but also collaborative scientific projects that now rank under the label of "citizen science". This is also the notion of heritage that is now strongly questioned by digital technologies and their participatory dimension: now is better understood how individuals (and not institutions only), as well as amateurs (and not specialists only) can contribute to the process of heritage, and to the legitimacy it confers to new objects of knowledge, or new ways of appropriation of knowledge. We intend here to analyze the links between nineteenth-century amateurs and contemporary internet users, particularly dealing with participatory science and new digital models of heritage, and to question the transformation of sociability, values and representations now attached to amateur practices.
