Analysis of sea spikes velocity from the MARLENE campaign data

Résumé

The work presented in this paper proposes an analysis of sea surface velocities deduced from radar observations measured during the MARLENE campaign (for MediterraneAn RFC and cLutter ENvironmental Experiment). Radar data were acquired in coastal area at different frequencies, sea conditions and illumination angles, leading to a large amount of results at low grazing angles. Doppler spectra with high Doppler velocities revealing the presence of fast scatterers have been recorded, and their link to NRCS spikes is investigated through the cross-correlation between NRCS and Doppler velocity. A study of the sea spikes velocity shows a dependence on the radar azimuth angle.
