From the beginning, the social web became, for French libraries as well as for French librarians, a cardinal and versatile tool of communication that radically changed the deal when it came to strategies of communication. As the concept of digital mediation is gaining more and more audience in France, libraries and librarians are expressing themselves on the web 2.0 rather separately and independently, sometimes even appearing to be in conflict.
