Abstract : Objective evaluation of embeddings for speech synthesis guided by neural networks. The evaluation of embeddings extracted from neural networks is complex. The quality of embeddings is relative to the task it was trained for and the evaluation of this task may be a lengthy and costly process if human annotators are involved. Thus, it may be useful to estimate their quality using fast and reproducible objective measures on auxiliary tasks. This paper introduces a generic method to estimate the quality of an embedding. This method is applied to speech synthesis based on unit selection guided by neural networks and allows to compare two systems.
