Approches plurielles en didactique des mathématiques. Apprendre à faire des mathématiques du primaire au supérieur : quoi de neuf ?

Abstract : The DIDIREM colloquium, entitled “Approches plurielles en didactique des mathématiques”, was held on 4, 5 and 6 September 2008 at the Université Paris Diderot-Paris 7. This book constitutes the proceedings. This symposium focused on issues at the heart of the team’s current research, some of which are also topical. For 25 years, DIDIREM has been engaged in work that seeks to provide answers to problems of teaching and learning mathematics, from primary school to higher education, including teacher training. It is a question of better understanding what is at stake in the classroom, at the level of knowledge from both the teacher’s and the student’s point of view. The team’s work is also marked by a cross-section of different theoretical frameworks referring mainly to the didactic theories developed in France as well as to the theories of learning or cognitive ergonomics. Four themes structure the proceedings of the symposium: - Mathematics education at the beginning of universty; - Digital technologies in mathematics education; - Mathematics education and realities; - The study of practices of mathematics teachers. The work on the themes is complemented by an introductory conference in which the team’s problems and some of its advances are discussed, and by a closing round table on teacher training where different actors in teacher training confront their points of view with those of didacticians. The colloquium “Plurial Approaches in Mathematics Teaching” was intended to reflect the life of the team. This colloquium also marked the end of a period, DIDIREM, and the beginning of a new era, the Laboratory of Didactics André Revuz, where, to the four major research themes of DIDIREM is now added a new one: the teaching of physical and chemical sciences.
