Beta energy dependence of the Ag-doped phosphate glass detector response
Résumé
The radiophotoluminescent (RPL) signal of Ag-doped phosphate glass detectors to β-radiation is significantly influenced by β-particle energy. We investigate the β-particle energy and angular dependence of incident β radiation on the RPL signal emitted from the detectors. The results of measurements and MCNPX simulations show that the detector sensitivity decreases with increasing β-energy and has little dependence on the angle of incidence. The consequence is that a dose assessment will be strongly biased if the detector calibration is performed with β-rays different from those monitored.
