Unified Modeling and Control of the Full-Bridge Inverter for Stand-Alone Applications

Abstract : This paper deals with the control of the full-bridge inverter using bipolar and unipolar strategies. This problem is rigorously formulated as a sinusoidal reference tracking problem, the reference being generated by an appropriate exosystem. A unified model of the inverter for the two strategies is first derived, and then, the problem is translated into a regulation of the tracking error around zero. The derived control can be interpreted as a switched state feedback control and more precisely as a sliding mode control for which sliding surfaces are automatically generated. The stability properties of the proposed control are guaranteed from the Lyapunov theory without invoking the equivalent control paradigm whose application, in that context, could be not easy. Simulation results shows the potentialities of the proposed approach.
