Dorian Festivals: The Encyclopedia of Ancient History

Abstract : Dorian cities shared a wide range of religious festivals, as is demonstrated by the similarities of their calendars. The most important of these festivals were dedicated to Apollo and often had a strong military character. They also played a significant role in fostering Dorian identity, especially as they evoked their common, legendary origin.
