La construction du concept physique de volume en cycle III : Quelles difficultés ? Quelles stratégies didactiques

Abstract : Abstract-A study on the construction of the concept of density in fifth grade led us to question the teaching and learning of volume in elementary school. Here we present the results of a survey of the institutional framework and students' representations of this multidisciplinary concept. This survey reveals difficulties of conceptualization probably linked to a mainly mathematical approach of the concept of volume. We propose to overcome these difficulties through a teaching scenario based on the physical meaning of the concept of volume.
