Nanostructured Li 2 MnO 3 : a disordered rock salt type structure for high energy density Li ion batteries

Résumé

Nowadays the energy storage challenge is to develop a low cost, ecofriendly, high energy density material, showing a reversible capacity higher than 250 mA h g−1. We demonstrate that the first oxidation process of the nanostructured well-known Li2MnO3 material leads to the formation of a completely disordered material. Then, in situ formation of a manganese-based oxide with a disordered rock salt structure leads to a stable electrode material showing a reversible capacity of 290 mA h g−1.
