Review and prospects for the Résif seismological data centre (knot B)

The Résif seismological data centre (CD-Résif, also known as "node B", DOI:10.17616/R37Q06) is hosted by the University of Grenoble Alpes and co-operated by UMS GRICAD and the OSUG data centre. Résif data services are developed, deployed and maintained by the ISTerre Résif team. The centre's prototyping was carried out using its own resources, which will be hosted by the IT Department of the University of Grenoble from 2011. Data and services have been gradually migrated to GRICAD's infrastructures: SPRING (for the network), SUMMER (for storage) and WINTER (for virtualization). The end of this migration (summer 2017) corresponds to the transition to operation of node B, which currently consists of 4 physical machines and 22 virtual machines. The WFCatalog webservice (WaveForm Catalog) provides information on the content of waveforms and data quality indicators (in JSON format). The WFCatalog is an EIDA standard, described on the ORFEUS website. A homogenization of the information provided by WFCatalog with the information provided by MUSTANG (IRIS-DC) is underway by the FDSN. Résif-DC is one of the 11 nodes of the European virtual archive EIDA. It is one of 19 global data centers displaying data and metadata according to the standards of the International Federation of Digital Seismograph Networks (FDSN). To date, Résif-DC provides access to data from 11 permanent and 50 temporary networks, for 2019 stations and 13563 channels. The volume of validated data is approximately 50 TB. The French Seismological and Geodetic Network Résif is a national research infrastructure dedicated to the observation and understanding of the structure and dynamics of the Internal Earth. Résif is based on high-tech observation networks, composed of seismological, geodetic and gravimetric instruments deployed in a dense manner throughout France. The data collected make it possible to study with high spatial and temporal resolution the deformation of the ground, surface and deep structures, seismicity on a local and global scale and natural hazards, and more particularly seismic events, on French territory. Résif is integrated into European (EPOS - European Plate Observing System) and global systems of instruments for imaging the Earth's interior as a whole and studying many natural phenomena.
