Agriculture et biodiversité: les services écosystémiques, une voie de réconciliation ?

Abstract : The development of agricultural systems based on ecosystem services (ES) requires adaptive management of biodiversity at the plot and landscape scales. In this paper, we provide an overview of knowledge on the relationship between biodiversity and this SE. For this, we rely mainly on the results of the EFESE-Agricultural Ecosystems study, coordinated by INRA between 2015 and 2017, and on recent meta-analyzes and reviews. First, for each of the major biodiversity components involved, we focus on describing the main chains of causality behind SEs and the main associated uncertainties. In a second step, we show how soil and biomass management practices determine the state of these biodiversity components. We then present the challenge of designing a coherent set of practices to develop SE through the description of the main performances of conservation agriculture and integrated crop-livestock systems. Finally, we focus on identifying the main research issues on the relationships between agricultural practices, biodiversity and SE. Especially, we highlight thatthere is a lack of knowledge about the relationships between SE and level and quality of agricultural production.
