Une approche implicite pour la modélisation de couches de vêtements

Abstract : Animating layers of garments remains a challenge due to collisions between layers, the latter being at very close distance from each other and often in contact over large surface areas. The complex folding behavior of each cloth layer in response to lateral compression also has to be modeled. We aim at correcting the possible intersections between layers of superposed garments using a specific operator which models static interaction between clothes. Our solution is based on the approximation of the human body and of each garment by an implicit surface, ie. an iso-surface of a scalar field function. We introduce so called "implicit folds" into those fields to deform them and to model the folding behavior of cloth layers. We also present our combination operator which is able to correct possible intersections between layers while modeling the relative influence of each of them during this correction. This is done thanks to a parameter modeling relative rigidity of cloth layers. We validate this approach over some basic 2D examples and then show our first 3D results.
