The Double Necessity of Criticism and Self-Effacement: Paulhan and Fénéon

Résumé

About the editor and critic Jean Paulhan who considers after the example of Félix Fénéon that the definition of the ideal critic - that is, someone who, having understood that the true nature of the critic is to remain invisible, deliberately remains silent - is yet further "disappointing" (décevante) proof of Paulhan's predilection for mischief and paradox.
