Classer des styles de vie - Proximité lexicale et distance sociale dans le champ journalistique

Abstract : Summary : This paper focuses on newspaper articles using the "lifestyle" category in their title. Therefore, we choose to use text analysis methods. We show how the institutionalization and distribution of these expressions are linked to the structure of the journalistic field. The "specialized pole"-recent medias on the internet-creates new categories regarded as "trendy", whereas legitimate producers of the "intellectual pole" institutionalize them. Furthermore, the opposition is strong between a "commercial pole" which uses categories that offer a peaceful vision of social relationships and political medias which use more divisive expressions. We show that representations of social groups are contrasted in our corpus. On one side, we found adjectives that characterize practices or singular nouns functioning as stereotypes ; on the other side, plural nouns that name a collective entity as a potential historical player. Through the study of the crossed uses of these expressions we highlight the underlying representations of these categorizations. Finally, this paper shows how the meaning of each word can change depending on the position in the journalistic field of the people using it.
