Honey's virtues in theriacs

Abstract : Electuaries and theriacs include an important proportion of honey in their ingredients This one has a double purpose. It is an exicipient and a curative agent. On the other hand it is used as preservative, blinder and sweetener and on the other hand it is recommended because of its numerous healing virtues. Physicians take care of the selection and preparation's conditions to have an optimal quality of the honey and they consider its real nature got during its elaboration. Honey will be a perfect food and drug if it was not subjected to the digestion's action after its absorption.
