Lumière en transition(s) : écologisation et démocratisation de la fabrique de l’éclairage urbain

Abstract : While in terms of urban convenience, safety and aesthetics, the contributions of artificial light are widely accepted, a diversity of negative impacts have been highlighted since the 1970s in multiple fields, from astronomy to health, ecology and economics. Amateur astronomers, doctors and ecologists are questioning the validity of intensive and homogeneous uses of artificial lighting, now understood in terms of pollution by many scientific studies. By making the understanding of the needs — both human and non-human — of darkness a new focal point, this environmental requalification of urban lighting is accompanied by a democratization of its factory, through use and at different territorial scales.
