La méthode des pluies revisitée

Abstract : The rainfalls design method is an old and practical method for designing BMPs. Despite its limitations, it can be useful in two situations: for the first design of the structures before verifying their operation with a more complete method or to design very small structures in the context of a rainwater management at a little scale. However, in its usual form and apart from the simplest cases, this method does not make it possible to directly determine the dimensions to be given to the structure so that it can protect the area for a pre-defined return period. The purpose of this paper is to establish the relationships that allow direct calculation of these dimensions, whatever the mode of emptying (controlled flow and/or infiltration) and for any structure. This paper is to be completed by another one which will propose a reasoned typology of the different possible structures. This method is implemented in the “Parapluie” software for decision making and the design of Best Management Practices.
