Les trois sièges de Marmande (1212, 1214, 1219)

Abstract : The siege and capture of Marmande (1218-1219) was a major development in the Crusade ; the surrender of a town within easy reach of Agen and the English-controlled duchy of Aquitaine . This paper aims to draw connections between the account included in the Song and the other contemporary sources, situating this bloody episode within the broader context of the rivalry between Raymond’s supporters and the Plantagenets.
