Abstract : We conducted an experimental design activity in biology with 12th grade students (17-18 years old), who use the LabBook software. The rst goal of this research is to identify and compare with the literature, the initial misconceptions of these students on the living and more speci cally on the alcoholic fermentation metabolism. This is done via a questionnaire. The second goal is to study the in uence of the writing of the experimental protocol during the experimental design activity, on the students misconceptions. This will be done through an analysis of the knowledge mobilized by the students in their protocols written in LabBook, contextualized in the alcoholic fermentation situation. Then, the students’ answers to the same questionnaire after the activity allow us to analyze the change of knowledge between the beginning and the end of the activity, in relation to the knowledge mobilized in the experimental context.
