Maximum-Bandwidth Synthesis of Monopulse Array Antennas with Fixed Geometry Through Convex Optimization

Résumé

This paper presents an innovative approach for the synthesis of optimal wideband sum and difference patterns with upper mask constraints on the side-lobes of the far field radiation patterns considering a fixed number of shared elements in the feeding network between both sum and difference channels. A convex optimization is iteratively applied in order to find the optimal weighting coefficients and the maximum bandwidth to obtain a radiation pattern compliant with some user-defined requirements. A numerical result is provided to preliminarily assess the effectiveness of the proposed method.
