Diamond Tiling Optimization for Hexagonal Shaped Phased Arrays

Abstract : The optimization of hexagonal phased array apertures, tessellated by diamond shaped tiles modules, is addressed. While assuring the complete covering of the antenna aperture, an enumerative-based technique is exploited for the exhaustive search of tilings that are optimal with respect to the distance of the power pattern from ideal mask-defined constraints. An illustrative numerical example is reported, showing the effectiveness of the proposed method.
